In 2004 based on the conclusion of the State Onomastic Commission of the Government of Kazakhstan Karaganda Regional Maslihat decided to rename a number of settlements in Osakarovsk, Zhanaarka and Shet districts. October village was renamed Karagaily, Litvinovka village and Krasnoarmeisk rural district became Yesil, Skobelevsk rural district — Sunkar, Volsk rural district — Saryozek, Proletar rural district — Akbulak. Aul Appaz and Appaz rural district were named after Mukazhan Zhumazhanov, railway station Zharyk in Shet district — the name of Saken Seifullin.
