144 years ago in Tashkent was released the first issue of the Kazakh newspaper “Turkistan ualyatynyn gazeti”. The newspaper had been released twice a month in addition to the “Turkestan statements”. Russian scientist Ostroumov gave the following assessment of the event: “As important was the “Peter Gazette” of 17th and 18th centuries for Russian, as well as “Turkestan uayalatynyn gazeti” was for the Uzbeks and Kazakhs”. The newspaper was simultaneously published in two languages.
