In 1999 a bust of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) was installed in one of the parks in Almaty (east side of the National Academy of Sciences Presidium Building). The authors are sculptor A. Bichugov, architects T. Yeraliyev, A. Anchugov. The opening ceremony took place on 29 October 1999 when the world celebrated the 200th anniversary of the poet’s birthday.
