Rakhimzhan Kilibayev, Secretary of the District Committee of the Communist Party, and Aleksandr Filonov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the District Council of People’s Deputies, became the first leaders of Frunzenskii district. On December 12, 1995 by the decision of the first convocation of the Almaty City Maslikhat and Akim of the city Frunzenskii district was renamed Medeuskii district. It is one of the most beautiful and developed districts of Almaty. A lot of monuments of architecture, history and culture, research centers and sports facilities are situated there.
