Birthday of a singer, composer, akyn and improviser Zhumabay Zharylgapuli

Zharylgapberdy Zhymabayuly was born in Bayanaul district of Pavlodar region. Zharylgapberdy was the follower of creative traditions of Birzhan-sal Kozhakulov. He was familiar with Arabic grammar, Eastern poetry, also sang zhyrs and kyssa. He was known as a great hunter and wrestler-paluan. Zharylgapberdy promoted songs of the top Kazakh singers and dombra players. The songs of love poetry such as “Shybartay”, “Shama”, “Karagoz” and “Ardak” were written by him. A. Zataevich praised song “Arda”, calling it godsend in the musical art. A. Zhubanov wrote following: “Zharylgapberdy was the great singer of Sary-Arka and the largest representative of the national art of singing”.
