Kaiyp (GaiypMukambetov) is the Kazakh khan during (mid.17 century – 1719). He governed the Kazakh khanate after Tauke khan. International position of the Kazakh khanate was tense and difficult during his reign. The constant threat represented from Drungars on the east, Bashkirs and Kalmyks from the west. The great expectations Kaiyp khan entrusted on an alliance with Russia. Being in Tobolsk in 1716 Kazakh ambassadors B.Ekeshev and B.Boriyev brought to attention to the Siberian governor M. Gagarina about willingness of Kaiyp to establish close ties with the Russian government and create a Kazakh-Russian military alliance against Dzhungar khanate. Kaiyp asked them to allow free trade Kazakhs in Siberia. Siberian administration approved Kaiyp’s proposal. Constant threats of Dzhungar invasion Kaiyp khan was forced to seek converge with Kazan governor P. Saltykov. Revival of Kazakh-Russian relations during his reign was related with growing Dzhungar threat.
