On July 2, 2014 at the Museum of the First President of Republic of Kazakhstan will take place the opening of the documentary exhibition «Cradle of future», dedicated to Day of the capital. The exhibition is organized together with National archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the partner project of the museum.
20 years ago, on July 6, 1994 N. Nazarbayev, speaking at plenary session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made an idea about movement of the capital.
A main idea of the exhibition is that the exposition took place in the building which is directly connected with history of the capital of independent Kazakhstan. On December 10, 1997 in the building of the Museum of the First President of RK, the first residence of the Head of the state in Astana at ceremonial joint meeting of chambers of Parliament and Government, our city was officially declared the capital of Kazakhstan. That day in the Dome hall of the Residence (nowadays is the Museum) the President said proud words: «From this time and for centuries, here, in the centre of large country will be made decisions, fatal for the people. It is a heart of our homeland. From this place Kazakhstan will define its historical destiny on the eve of the third millennium».
For the first time in the Golden hall of the Museum was discussed the general plan of city building. There was made the decision about the city of Future.
It is known that many buildings, city monuments were designed by the President as drawings, schemes and sketches. These unique drawings and models of the buildings will be presented at the exposition.
The visitors of the exhibition can see a complex of the archival materials narrating about a way of twenty years. For the first time they are presented in large volume. Unique documentary collections of the National archive of RK and materials from the archival collection of the Museum of the First President of RK reflect the history of Astana.
Today Astana became a symbol of the prospering Kazakhstan, the largest cultural, economic, spiritual centre. The Day of the capital has become a national holiday. This year it got so significant sounding and it is so important to remember the first steps of our young cap ital and again return to history of Astana — cradle of future.
The exhibition at the Museum of First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will last till August 2, 2014.
