In 1855, the rebellion of the Kazakhs of the Junior Zhuz, led by Esset Batyr, reached its apogee

On this day, rebel forces attacked the camp executioners, togwther with a dozen elders killed biis-Sultan Arystan Zhantorin. Reason for dissatisfaction was the indigenous tax increase from each family of shektints (one of the Kazakh tribes), withdrawal of road transport for military purposes and the erection of forts in the wilderness.
