On January 23, 1992, the UN Security Council approved a resolution on the admission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to membership in the United Nations. In his telegram to Nursultan Nazarbayev, the former UN Secretary-General Boutrosa Ghali expressed the deep confidence that Kazakhstan, as a peace-loving nation, will be able to fulfill the requirements contained in the UN Charter, and would make a great, active and constructive contribution in all areas of activity of this international organization. Thus, on March 3, 1992, Kazakhstan has become a full member of the UN. At the plenary session, the UN General Assembly made without a vote, a decision on the adoption of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. After the meeting, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held before the United Nations headquarters.
