To promote sound of symbolic of the country in 2006, the new national anthem was accepted. The patriotic song "Menin Kazakhstanym" (My Kazakhstan) popular among people became its basis. It was written in 1956 by Shamshy Kaldayakov on Zhumeken Nazhimedenov’s verses. To give the high status of a national anthem to this song and more solemn sounding the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev finished the original text. The parliament of Kazakhstan at a joint meeting of chambers in January 6, 2006 made appropriate amendments to the Decree "About the State Characters" and approved a new national anthem of the country.
