On August 13, 1920 first Kazakh news agency was founded. Nowadays its traditions are being continued by the “National company “Kazakh Informational Agency” JSC. In 1920, there was established the Orenburg-Turgay department of the Russian Telegraph Agency (ROSTA), which in 1925 was renamed KazROSTA. Then it was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR and changed the name to KazTAG. The state telegraph agency existed from 1937 until 1997. According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from September 10, 1997 the agency was reorganized to KazAAG. On 8 November 2002, by the decree of the Government of the RK 100-percent state-owned “National company “Kazakh Informational Agency” JSC was established.
