18 years ago in Kokshetau, in front of the State University named after Sh. Ualikhanov was opened the monument for Sh. Ualikhanov Shokan Ualikhanov (1835-1865) — great Kazakh scientist, historian, ethnographer, folklorist, traveler, educator, as well as an officer of the General Staff Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Army, the great-grandson of the famous Khan Ablay. He was born at the Kusmuryn station of Kostanay region.
