Shaken Kenzhetaevich Aimanov (February 15, 1914. — December 23, 1970) is a well-known Kazakh actor and director. In 1964, People’s Artist of the USSR. He was born in Bayan-Aul area of Pavlodar region. Buried in Alma-Ata. Aimanov Shaken (Shakerim) is an actor, director, People’s Artist of the USSR (1964). The future actor was born on February 15, 1914 in Bayan-Aul area of Pavlodar region. From an early age, he grew up listening to the songs of his son-in-law Kali Baizhanov. He studied at the village school (1928) and then entered the Kazakh Pedagogical College in Semipalatinsk. In 1932, he studied at the Semipalatinsk College for teachers; then he was invited to join the Kazakh Drama Theatre of the city of Alma-Ata. In 1932-1933, he joined the theater. In the beginning, he played several roles. After playing the lead roles in productions of classic plays, he managed to gain recognition of the viewer. Especially in the role of the Akan seri, Kobylandy, Satin, Petruchio, Othello in his performance left an indelible mark in the history of the National Theatre. Along with the theater, he worked as a director. From 1947 to 1951 he worked as a chief director of the Kazakh Drama Theater. He was able to show the complex images in such movies as "Songs of Abai" (1945) and "Zhambyl" (1947). From 1953 to 1970 he worked as an artistic director of the studio "Kazakhfilm", he made a significant contribution to the art of the Kazakh cinema. The feature films that he made: "Love Poem" (1953), "Aldar Kose" (1965), "Land of the Fathers" (1966), "At the root of the Nayzatas" (1968). The best of his movies, which were liked by the audience, were "Our dear doctor" (1958) and "Angel in the skullcap" (1969), were aimed at the development of national cinema comedy. His most recent production of "The End of Ataman" (1970) became a top of the creativeness of director Aimanov. Aimanov participated in the organization of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, he was the first secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the Kazakh SSR (1958-70). Winner of the USSR State Prize (1952) and winner of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR (1968). On December 24, 1970 he was tragically killed while crossing the street in Moscow and was buried in Alma-Ata. The street in Alma-Ata was named after Shaken Aimanov (1972) and studio "Kazakhfilm" (1984). The memorial plaque was installed at the house where he lived.
