Birthday of the founder of the Kazakh television journalism Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov.

Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov was born on February 13, 1937 in the city of Talgar of Almaty region. In 1954, he joined the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Philology in the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov. After graduating in 1959, he began to work at the Alma-Ata TV studio, first as a correspondent, then editor, commentator, for the period of two years he worked as a managing editor. In 1961, he enrolled in the graduate school of the journalism faculty of Moscow State University. After finishing the graduate school in 1964, M.K. Barmankulov successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis at Moscow State University and in January 1965, he was appointed as the assistant of the department of Russian journalism in the Kazakh State University. After receiving the diploma of the candidate of Philological sciences in September 1996, he became a senior lecturer. From October 1966 to December 1969, M.K. Barmankulov worked as a deputy dean of the Faculty of Journalism in the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov. In February 1969, he was confirmed in the rank of assistant professor. In 1972, he successfully completed a refresher course at the Faculty of Journalism. Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov worked in his native University for more than 35 years; since 1965, he was traveled a long way from the assistant of the Department to Doctor of Philology, professor, dean of the faculty of a full-time and part-time journalism. He was a non-replaceable chair of television and radio journalism department until 2000. From March to September 1991, he was the first deputy editor of the leading national newspaper "Kazakhstan Pravda". During his time at the university, he proved himself as a wise mentor, a gifted teacher and scholar, inquisitive explorer. Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov prepared and introduced the new courses for the Faculty of Journalism: "The fundamentals of Radio and Television", "Genres of TV and radio publicism", "Comparative analysis of genres of print, radio and television", "Modern foreign journalism". His new courses "Cultural sciences" and "World Religions in the Turkic states" that were embedded in the 1990 were interesting for not only students of journalism faculties, but also for the students of philosophical, historical, political, science and oriental faculties. The first books of M.K. Barmankulov "Report on radio and TV" (1970) and "The whole world in your apartment" (1972), "Journalism for Everyone" are the reference books for the current generation of journalism students of 21st century. In 1980, M.K. Barmankulov has successfully defended his doctorate dissertation in the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and received the title of Doctor of Philology. It was the first dissertation in Kazakhstan on comparative analysis of genres of print, radio and television. Along with educational and pedagogical activities, M.K.Barmankulov had a very active public work. He was a member of the Confederation of Journalists' Unions of CIS, the secretary of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan. His opinion was valuable for the professionals, who elected him: as a member of the party bureau, member of the Party Committee, secretary of the party bureau of the Faculty, Vice-Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Faculty, the chairman of the bureau, executive secretary of the collection "Journalist". M.K. Barmankulov lectured on the Republican courses for radio and television journalists; on the radio, he led the show "School Radio reporters". Despite the research and teaching workload on the faculty, Marat Karibayevich actively engaged in creative work, he has prepared more than 200 articles in newspapers and TV broadcasts. M.K. Barmankulov directed several educational films that were shown at the All-Union Exhibition and were awarded with the Diploma of 1 degree in the Republican contest. M.K. Barmankulov was the author of the first television serial in the Kazakh television. His program "One Hundred ways - One Hundred roads" promoted sports, tourism and our beautiful mountains of Trans-Ili Alatau, which he admired. He like going to the mountains over the weekend, skiing and cycling. The range of creative and scientific interests of Professor M.K.Barmankulov is large and multifaceted. His books on television: "Opportunities of the Space TV" (1997) and "Television: money or power?" (1998) talked about the new trends in the world of television in Kazakhstan, the emergence of commercial television companies in the early 1990s, about the difficult transition to a market economy in this period. M.K. Barmankulov was the first researcher in Kazakhstan who began to study the emergence of the Internet in Kazakhstan and its impact on the electronic media, the development of society, our lives, predicting the future of the World Wide Web. M.K.Barmankulov is an author of more than 20 books on journalism, television, culture, Turkic Studies. This is was indicated in his books, "Han ... Ivan", "Heirs of the White Swan" (1995), "The Turkic Universe" (1996), "Crystal dream of Turks about the quad-nation" (1999) and many others. One doctoral and six master’s dissertations were defended under the guidance of Doctor of Philology, Professor M.K.Barmankulov. He founded his own scientific school in the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov. He identified a new research direction in the broadcast media in Kazakhstan. His disciples and followers continued his work already in the 21st century. He prepared a generation of journalists, TV crews, theorists of the television broadcasting, communicologists, including the professors O. Abdimanuly, K.Z.Tursyn, S.H.Barlybaeva, L.S.Ahmetova, G.Z. Ibraeva, S.I. Nurgozhina and many others. M.K. Barmankulov was the founder of the Institute of World Literature and journalism in the 1990s; he was a vice-president of the Eurasian Economic Academy. In 2001, for the outstanding contribution to the Kazakh journalism, the Academy of journalism of the country awarded the journalist Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov with the prize number 1 "Altyn Samruk". This is the highest nationwide personal journalistic prize. At present, the owners of this award became more than ten people. The first who received this highest award of the journalistic community in Kazakhstan was Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov, he is an outstanding theoretician, author of many books on journalism, television, which became a handbook for all employees of the CIS. M.K. Barmankulov dedicated his life to what we now call the quality ether, an interesting plot, a great article. In March 2002, he already left us. When his name was announced, the whole room at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Abay got up from their seats and honored the legacy of M.K. For more than 40 years, Marat Karibayevich was a researcher, a mentor, a teacher, a creative person, a kind, sensitive and responsive human. The foundation of democracy and openness of Kazakhstani journalism was laid during his presence in the department. This progressive person combined loyalty and rigor, youthful enthusiasm and wisdom of the seer, pluralism and innovation, generosity and stability, availability in communication and humanity. When we were students, his students, for us, he was one of the best progressive educators with an unrivaled authority. His respect for the students could always be seen from the polite "You". We became colleagues, and therefore we have seen a friend in his face, who we could always calle "chief" ("Bormann") between ourselves, thus we were able to collectively determine his unrivaled authority, social and personal significance. For us he has always been and will be a teacher, maestro, mentor and friend! The traditional “Barmankulovsk readings” are being held annualy on his birthday at the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov. His family, friends, students, colleagues, friends, are taking part in this event in order to remember their Teacher and to share the knowledge and some new modern problems of journalism. The student’s competition for the best television program has become a good tradition, it is held as a part of the International Conference "Barmankulovsk readings" dedicated to Professor Marat Karibayevich Barmankulova. M.K. Barmankulov looked into the future and walked in front of everyone, like a stalker, leading a new generation of journalists. In 2001, the Television studio of the Faculty of Journalism was named after the professor M.K. Barmankulov. And today, the students work with the latest digital equipment, preparing television and radio programs, of which dreamed a great Maître, who did everything for the faculty to make this dream come true in the 21st century.
