On January 7, 2006 the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having the force of the Constitutional Law “On state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. The new National Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan was approved by the new Law, the anthem is based on the song “Menin Kazakhstanym” in the words of Zhumeken Nazhimedenov and Nursultan Nazarbayev, the musical version was made by Shamshi Kaldayakov. The lyrics of the song created by Shamshi Kaldayakov and Zhumeken Nazhimedenov “Menin Kazakhstanym” that was defined by the Law as the anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan were changed in order to put the song into the line with the National Anthem. It is important for people to stand and exert the right hand to the left side of the chest when the anthem is being performed.
