In order to develop the democratization of the Kazakh society, in accordance with the paragraph 4 of Article 87 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Article 36 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dated from January, 23 2001 «On the local government in the Republic of Kazakhstan" I decree: 1. To approve the attached Rules of the elections of akims of rural districts, villages and towns of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 2. The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan: 1) To assign, organize and hold the elections of akims of rural districts, villages and towns of Kazakhstan, after the enactment of orders on the further decentralization of national administration and the establishing of the local government; 2) To determine the number and the list of administrative and territorial units, on the territory of which the elections will be held in accordance with the Decree. Footnote. Paragraph 2 is amended by the Presidential Decree of July 8, 2005 N 1613 (for the order of constituting of a decree see p.2). 3) To declare the paragraph 1 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of June 23, 2001 N 633 “On the elections of akims of rural districts, villages and towns of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, to be no longer in force. (SAPP of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2001, N 21, p. 259). 4) The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and regional governors to take the necessary measures for organizational, logistical and financial support for these elections. 5) This Decree shall enter into force on the date of publication.
