Evgeniy Brusilovskiy is composer, professor. People’s Artist of Kazakhstan. One of the founders of Kazakh professional music art. He was born in Rostov-on-Don. Brusilovskiy graduated from the Leningrad Conservatoire having studied under Professor Steinberg. In 1993 he was sent to Almaty by the Composers’ Union of the USSR. In 1933-1934 he taught "Studying Folc Music" in Music-Drama college. In 1934-1938 he was Musical Director of the Kazakh Music Theatre. In 1949-1951 worked as Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Society named after Zhambyl. He was also engaged in teaching activities. In 1944-1970 he was Chairman of the Department of the Conservatoire named after Kurmangazy (since 1955 — professor). In 1939-1956 he was President of the Composers’ Union of Kazakhstan; in 1956-1976 — member of the Management Board of the Composers’ Union of Kazakhstan.
