One of the outstanding scientists of the medieval Muslim East was Abu Nasr Al-Farabi – great encyclopedist, philosopher, astronomer, mathematician and doctor.

Abu Nasr Al-Farabi was born in the large medieval city Farab near Syr Darya (later Otrar). This outstanding man was interested in almost all spheres of science and culture popular in his time – astronomy, logics, theory of music and mathematics, sociology and ethics, medicine and psychology, philosophy and law, art and literature, poetry and music.

Al-Farabi was known as “The Second Teacher”. He was second because “The First Teacher” was named Aristotle and leaved a thousand years ago. The works of great scientist Al-Farabi are stored in the libraries and archives all over the world. Many modern scientists search for his works and study the heritage of Al-Farabi.
