The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the French Republic were established on January 25, 1992.
The relations with France are one of the priorities of Kazakhstan's foreign policy towards the Europe. The basic principles of Kazakh-French relations were formed in 1992 during an official visit to France of the head of our country, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during which an agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries was signed.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the bilateral political dialogue became intense and confidential.
Astana and Paris reached a high level of mutual understanding and share similar positions and views on the most pressing issues of the modern world. France, as well as other nuclear states, provided Kazakhstan with the security guarantees, considering it as a guarantor of stability in the region and a bridge between Europe and Asia.
France occupies the 5th place among the most important foreign trade partners of Kazakhstan after Russia, Italy, Switzerland and China.
Currently there are 40 French companies in the Kazakh market working in the oil and gas, mining, energy and transport sectors.
