The article highlights the issues that deal with famine in Kazakhstan and in Ukraine in 1932–1933 years. Certain common and distinctive features of the tragedy of two nations are characterized, in particular, Bolshevik leaders’ assistance to employ hungry Kazakhs in the surrounding regions of the USSR in order to save them from death and Kremlin’s prohibition for hungry peasants from Ukraine and the Kuban to go beyond their settling for provisions.
