2008 In 2008 the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" was established

In 2008 the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" was established

Joint Stock Company Sovereign Wealth Fund «Samruk-Kazyna» was founded in accordance with the Decree of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 13, 2008 № 669 «Оn some measures on competitiveness and sustainability of national economy» and by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 17, 2008 № 962 «Оn measures on realization of the Decree of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 669»  by merge of two joint stock companies Kazakhstan Holding for the Management of State Assets SAMRUK and KAZYNA Sustainable Development Fund.

Sovereign Wealth Fund «Samruk-Kazyna» is established in order to enhance competitiveness and sustainability of national economy and prevent any potential negative impact of changes in the world markets on economic growth of the country.

The key purpose of “Samruk-Kazyna” is to manage shares (interests) of national development institutions, national companies,  and other legal entities  it owns to maximize their long-term value and competitiveness in the world markets.

October 4, 1957 the first Soviet satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome

October 4, 1957 the first Soviet satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. With a diameter of 580 mm the weight of the first satellite was 83.6 kg. It existed 92 days. According to the decision of the International Astronautical Federation, October 4, 1957 was officially declared the day of the space era beginning.

In 1920 the inaugural congress of the Soviets of Kazakhstan took place in Orenburg

On October 4-12, 1920 the inaugural congress of the Soviets of Kazakhstan took place in Orenburg. At the congress the Central Executive Committee, headed by S. Mendeshev, and the Council of People’s Commissars, headed by V. Radus-Zenkovich, were elected. Kazakhstan became the autonomy within Russia. Orenburg was proclaimed the capital. In this regard, in September 1920 the Orenburg Province joined the KASSR. The regional bureau of the Russian Communist Party and Kazakh Bureau of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party were established for more convenient management of the party organizations in Kazakhstan.

The territory of the Republic included Semipalatinsk, Akmola, Turgay, Ural regions, Mangyshlak district, and parts of Krasnovod district and Astrakhan province.

The idea of ​​joining of Semirechensk and Syrdarya regions of Turkestan, dates back to the period of the Civil War. Kazakh population of these areas encouraged the establishent of the united republic.
