68 years ago (1944) the Statement of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan “On the establishment of the theatre for young audience in Alma-Ata city” (modern State Academic Russian Theatre for Children and Young People named after N. Sats). On November 7, 1945 the theatre acted its first performances.
In 1985 by the Decree of the Ministry of Culture of the Kazakh SSR № 50 from February 24 the Theatre for Children and Young People was divided into two separate troupes: Russian group which was named after Natalia Sats and Kazakh troupe named after famous Kazakh writer and dramatist Gabit Musrepov. In 1996 the N. Sats Theatre for Children and Young People was awarded with the honorary title “Academic”.
